Mwana Mumbi | Biography

Lastone Mumbi jr (born on 20th December in Kafue but grew up in Lusaka), known by his stage name Las j but popularly called Mwana Mumbi, is a Zambian hip hop recording artist. He has worked with the likes of DJ Mzenga man & currently signed under turn up music Africa with super talented producer Ricore, his native tongue. In 2013, he released his debut studio single dubbed Akajilijili while signed to Mbeats generation. his follow-up single called ise ndise was released under his signed label imprint Turn up music Africa which is formerly known as No doubt. The song was supported by numerous DJs & received massive airplay on radio stations.

Las j has been nominated and won several rap battles in his home town of Kafue, including multiple Lusaka Entertainment ciphers.

In 2016, he decided to pursue a career in music professionally. When asked why music, he said: “I found out I was gifted in it so I had to explore it, it’s my life, my hustle, my world”. In 2017 Las j released couple of tracks under the label which he was signed unto at the time. The songs received wide critical acclaim and instantly shot las j to the limelight. Las j performed at The local Hip Hop Awards & has continued pushing his music under his newly signed label Turn Up Music Africa.
